How to draw a boy and a girl character in just 5 minutes

This article will help you about how to draw a boy and a girl character in just 5 minutes.

In the past, I have written some articles about drawing something. I tried to give you the easiest trick to draw. You can read all my post in here.

And today we will learn how to draw a boy and a girl character.

But at first, let me share common problem about drawing. Lot of times lot of girls say, they can draw girls but can't draw boys. And when boys try to draw boys, they can do it properly. But when they draw girls, it looks more like a boy. So we will solve that problem today.

Step one: First what we do is, draw the face and body's basic shape with pencil. Basic shape means, as we draw head's shape, we measure it with pencil.

Then draw the body in proportion to the head shape. Normally, in case of realistic figure drawing, one body equals to 7.5 to 8 heads. And the cartoon that I am going to draw will be one body equals to 4 heads.

Step two: On the head shape that I've drawn, according to where the eye should be I'll put an eye line and a middle line to fix where the nose should be.

Then, how our two characters will stand, meaning their body gestures, how will their hands, and legs be positioned. We can decide that with a light line.

Step three: Now according to the character's eye line and middle line, we will draw the eyes, nose, and mouth.

To draw a boy's eyes, we don't need much. Just two dots will be enough. But a boy's eyebrow should be bold. Boy's nose are better drawn in a bit of details. To draw boy's mouth, you dont need much detailing. Only have to draw the expression, either happy or sad. Lip details are unnecessary. You should see the picture below with a cool head. If you stumble in somewhere, comment below. I will help you.

But when it comes to girl's eyes, the whole thing is different. It's good to add as many details as you can.

You can draw eyelashes, add a dark line for the eye line to make it cuter. Remember, girls have thin eyebrows. And the gap between the eye and the eyebrow are more than the boys. For the nose fewer details will make Iit easy. You can draw it with only a line. And finally lips. Upper lips, lower lips, as much detailing as possible, lipstick, pout etc...

Now hair. To draw hair, it has three common parts. Upper part of head, right side, and left side.

Should I draw straight hair or curly hair for the girl??

Ok, let me do both.

Upper part is straight and lower part is curly. And I've already drawn the boy's hair. It's a big untidy.

Hair is a very important part of character design because hair helps to create a different identity for the character.

Now look the difference between the boy and the girl characters can be clearly recognized. The boy doesn't look like the girl and the girl doesn't look like the boy.

Now let's add more details to their body's then the character will look more complete. Now, following the initial body outline, let's add details to the characters within it. For example, let's put a pair of headphones on his neck, and make him do a thumbs up with him.

May be the girl is showing 'V'. Put a Kameez on her. Make details of the Kameez. Draw jeans on the boy.

This way as we want, from people we see around us, we can design two characters.

Step four: Our character is almost ready. Now with a pen let's just border the characters.

Along with bordering let's make the hair black. And also finalize the details that we was left during penciling. Try to finish designs as well.

See, finally our own characters are ready.

Step five: Now the most difficult part.

Take an eraser, use lightly in a 35 degree angle and carefully erase the pencil outline.

I thought, it's enough for today. If you think the process is hard and you can't make it then let me know. I will try to make you understand that what process you couldn't make!

Ok. Final thing. Color it. See our superhero and superheroine.

So here was the article of how to draw a boy and a girl character in just 5 minutes. I hope you enjoy and like it.

Keep practicing..... because if you practice regularly, you can draw any kind of boy or girl so easily.

How to draw different ages in cartoon

How to draw different ages in cartoon is not professionally written.

Hello guys. How are you? Welcome to our another series article of how to draw. You guys can see previous articles in here.

Today we will learn how to draw different ages people in cartoon easily, from a baby to a teenager, a teenager to an adult person.

In order to draw characters of different ages, we all face problems of different kinds. For example, they draw a young character, but after it's done it looks like an older character. Sometimes we draw an older character and it doesn't look old enough.

So today we are going to solve this problems, and in the midst of these, we will also learn to draw the different ages.

So now let's see how to draw an old gentleman next to a small baby.

In order to increase or decrease the age, there are mainly three tricks. The eye line placement, shape of the head, and facial features.

Trick one: Eyeline placement is the eyes will be placed, where we will draw the eyes.

Draw two similar shapes on the Eyeline.

If we take the two similar shapes and draw them on different eyeline levels, we will notice that on the lower level it looks exactly like a young girl's face, while on a higher level, it looks like an adult woman's face.

Changing the eye line levels change the age, because when we are young, our lower portion of the head, like the shoulder's jaw- it doesn't develop as much. And the top of our head looks larger. On the other hand,  an older person has a double chin and a bigger jaw, and the lower portion looks larger. That's why eye line moves to the top.

Trick two: Drawing a different shape for the face also changes the age of a child or an adult.

So at first, in order to understand, let's draw two mangoes.

A straight mango and an upside down mango.

The first mango, where the top portion is larger can be drawn into a child. And on the mango to our right, we can draw an old man on it.

Basically trick one and trick two are similar as we age the upper portion of our face shrinks, and the lower portion enlarges. That's why the face changes, and we have to draw it differently as well.

Trick two decides wheather the top portion or the bottom portion will be large or small.

Trick three: Now let's start again with a baby.

Let's give him a name. What can be the name? How about Peter? See the hair on Peter's head, that's a feature of his age.

As he grows into an older child, his fluffy hair and small head will remain a feature of his childhood.

And  when Peter grows into a teenager, and young adult, we will notice that the jaw and neck grows rapidly in these age groups.

The young boy's skinny face and lanky build and the developed shoulder and trendy hairstyle are the iconic facial features of these age groups.

When Peter becomes 20 or 30 years old, we will see those facial features.

Peter looks damn smart when he is 20 years old.

At 30-40 years, he grows a double chin possibly.

And when he is in the middles age, he begins to lose hair.

And at 60, when he is an old man, his skin begins to stretch.

Another interesting thing is that if we look at the grandpa Peter, if he grows even older to the age of 70, 80, 90- he'll start to lose fat, his teeth, his forehead will grow bigger, and his chin will shrink.

This old grandpa will start to look like a baby again.

So what will happen if he starts to look like baby, Peter and his smaller features and shape?

And this is how you draw the different ages as a full circle in a character's life.

And finally one day grandpa Peter will pass away.

RIP Peter.

I love this Peter character. We should have to keep alive this character. Okay, let's not kill him.

And this is how to draw different ages in cartoon from a baby to an adult, and the life cycles of these ages continue.

In every article, I give tips, these are what I have learned from many places. I have brought all these techniques together and made them into simpler processes. Most of them are what I have learned as I drew, and these are my findings.

Along with that for your self development, learn from plenty of drawing tutorials. And most importantly, to prepare yourself as a cartoonist, this is to draw everyday.

How to be a cartoonist in just 5 minutes

How to be a cartoonist in just 5 minutes is not professionally written.

First of all, I need to assure you that I am not a fully professional cartoonist. I just am in here to gather all of easy tricks to draw something more smoothly. And in this post, I am gonna actually share with you about how to draw different cartoon shapes or faces in just 5 minutes.

Before I write this post, I browsed on google and youtube to search about how to be a cartoonist in just 5 or 10 or 30 minutes. I read and watched many contents. But I didn't find any shortcut tricks to be a cartoonist.

Yeah. There are no shortcut techniques to be a cartoonist. You have to draw, draw, and draw. But if you don't get some easy tricks, then you might think, to become a cartoonist is too hard. And I will not to let you think like that. If you follow these tips, you will be a cartoonist while you finish the article.

To draw, all we need for this is simple a pen and a white paper.

So, if you are ready with paper and pen, then let's begin...

The first step of drawing different types of cartoon is being able to draw different types of shapes, such as circle, triangle, rectangular and oval.

Actually we can all draw this basic shapes and I say that anyone who can draw these basic shapes can draw any kind of cartoon characters.

You must be thinking--- How???

Let me show you....

Actually it's very easy.

Now on this basic shapes, let's use dots to draw eye.

Then use "greater than" or "smaller than" signs to draw a nose.

And then use inverted "D" to draw a happy face.

Next use "C" and inverted "C" to draw ears. Then MMMMMM or WWWWWW for hair.

Two straight lines can be used for neck and Shirt's collar.

By using this basic shapes we have already drawn 4 different types of cartoon characters. But the problem of using these basic shapes is, there is no variation.

For example, if I ask you to draw a crowd and you use only these basic shapes to draw faces, it will be hard to differentiate. It will look like they are all each other's twins.

To draw more different types of cartoon character what we do is we mix up these basic shapes with each others.

Let me show you how.....

First we take a circle and add a square.

Meaning take the upper half of the circle and add the lower half of the square.

In this shape, draw eyes with dots, draw smiley face with inverted "D", draw some hair, and look it has become a baby.

In the same way, if we do the opposite, such as, first square and then add a circle. It will be square half on top and circle half on the bottom.

Now if we add eyes, nose, mouth, spikey hair, see that baby has turned into an older child.

Like above, by using these different types of shapes we can create many different faces.

Did you see the picture above? Pairing these basic shapes in the same way, we got a cute baby, a naughty boy, young girl, and aunt. We got a bearded uncle, mustached uncle, an alien, we even got a teenage mutant ninja turtle.

See, we can understand, using this basic shapes, we can easily draw any kind of cartoon character. If we look closely, any of the world famous cartoons around us, can be drawn using this basic shape theory. See the picture below....

And those of you, who are bored with hearing 'basic shape', 'basic shape', you can ignore actually basic shapes. Draw any random shape and add eyes, nose, mouth on them to create new characters. Like this...

Try to draw these shapes. If you create a mistake or don't understand how to draw these pictures while drawing, just let me know it. I will help you.

In this article, I tried to show you how to draw a cartoon face easily. There are so many tricks out there. You can follow them too. But as we got to learn many tricks and tips of creating cartoon faces, I will suggest you, if you continue drawing with these tips and tricks, I am sure from today onwards you guys can call yourself a cartoonist.
